How to transport an auction car in Europe

Plan auction car transport before bidding. The vehicle may be released only after payment is confirmed, collection time may be limited, and a damaged car may need special loading equipment. These details affect the transport quote and your maximum bid.
EU Car Auctions brings listings from European auction sites together in one place. The original auction platform handles the sale and decides when the vehicle can be collected.
Before bidding: check the collection terms
Find the actual vehicle pickup location. If the exact address is not available, ask the auction platform for the town or postal code so you can request an initial quote.
Check when the car will be released after payment, whether pickup needs an appointment, whether a collection fee applies and when storage charges may begin. Ask whether the yard can help load a non-running vehicle.
Choose how the car will travel
A listing marked "starts" or "run and drive" does not confirm that the car is safe or legal to drive home. If you plan to drive it, check its roadworthiness, registration or temporary plates, and insurance for every country on the route.
If the car needs a transporter, describe its condition accurately. Locked wheels, damaged suspension, missing keys or missing wheels can change the equipment needed for collection. An open transporter suits many vehicles; enclosed transport may be an option for a valuable car.
Request a quote with the right details
Send the transport provider the original auction link and lot number, pickup and delivery locations, collection deadline, and whether the car starts, rolls, steers and brakes. Mention visible damage and any loose parts that must travel with it.
Ask for a written quote that makes clear what it includes: loading, delivery, insurance cover and possible waiting charges. If the pickup address or vehicle condition changes, ask whether the quote still applies.
After winning: arrange release and delivery
Pay the original auction platform according to its terms. Before booking pickup, confirm that the vehicle is ready for release and ask which invoice, release note or written authorisation the driver must present. Confirm who will hand over the keys and vehicle documents.
If the route crosses an EU customs border, check with the carrier and relevant authorities which import or export documents are needed.
Ask the carrier to photograph the car and its existing damage at pickup. Inspect it against those photos at delivery. Record any new damage on the delivery document before signing and contact the carrier promptly.

Collection rules and transport availability depend on the auction platform, vehicle and route. Confirm the current terms before bidding.
